Course Material Affordability Online
Textbook and course material costs remain a significant barrier for students across higher education. This webinar brings together the UK Libraries and the UK Bookstore to explore a range of solutions designed to reduce financial burden of course materials while ensuring students have the materials they need from day one.
Join us to learn about three approaches:
First Day Program (UK Bookstore) -- First Day™ is Barnes & Noble College's inclusive access model, where digital course materials are included as an additional course charge for a particular course or program.
Library Resources - UK Libraries provides access to a wide range of materials through course reserves and eBooks that can be integrated directly into your course at no cost to students.
Open Educational Resources (OER) -- Freely available, openly licensed textbooks, modules, and other course materials that can replace or supplement costly commercial texts -- with no cost to students and full flexibility for instructors to adapt content to their needs.
Whether you are teaching a high-enrollment introductory course or an upper-division seminar, this session will help you identify the right mix of affordable course material strategies for your students. Representatives from both the UK Bookstore and the UK Libraries will be on hand to answer questions and discuss options specific to your discipline.
Who should attend: Faculty, instructors, department chairs, and academic advisors interested in reducing course material costs for students.
