Traveling Exhibit Opening Reception & Rare Book Pop-Up
Join us Monday, May 5 for the opening reception of the National Library of Medicine's traveling exhibit, “Take Two and Call me in the Morning: The Story of Aspirin Revisited.” The reception will feature cookies, coffee, and tea and remarks from Doug Way, Dean of Libraries.
Through a collaboration between the Medical Center Library (MCL) and the Special Collections Research Center (SCRC), rare books from the Dr. Charles T. Ambrose Collection will be on display during the reception.
A professor of microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics at UK’s College of Medicine, Dr. Ambrose was an avid collector of 16th-19th century medical texts, with special focus on the history of medicine in Lexington and the Ohio Valley.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about conducting historical medical research at the SCRC and setting up research accounts.
The Story of Aspirin Revisited will be on display on the First Floor of the MCL from April 28 to June 7.
