Opening of the American Archive on Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva

Opening of the American Archive on Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva

Please join us on Tuesday, Dec. 3 to celebrate the opening of the American Archive on Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva, one of the largest collections on the authors in the world outside of Russia and the most comprehensive in North America.

The celebration will feature an archive exhibition and a lecture by Dr. Molly Blasing, Associate Professor of Russian Studies in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

The event begins at 4pm in the Great Hall of the Margaret I. King Library and is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the lecture and exhibition.

RSVPs are appreciated.

Dr. Blasing’s lecture, “Russian Literature’s Century of Conflict and Contradiction: On the Lives, Literature and Legacy of Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva,” will share the history of the Tsvetaev family and show what the lives and writings of Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva can teach us about war, censorship, prison, exile, and freedom.

Dr. Blasing will describe the collection’s journey to UK Libraries and detail all that it offers to students and researchers who wish to better understand Russia’s historical and literary legacies.
