Edward F. Prichard Lecture with Silas House

Edward F. Prichard Lecture with Silas House

Join us for the 2024 Edward F. Prichard Lecture featuring nationally bestselling author and Kentucky treasure Silas House.

House is the author of seven novels, including Clay’s Quilt, A Parchment of Leaves, Southernmost, and most recently, Lark Ascending, the winner of the 2023 Southern Book Prize.

An environmental activist, essayist, playwright, music journalist, popular podcast host, and Grammy-nominated music video producer, the multi-talented House will speak on the ways in which his wide-ranging work addresses environmental, working class, and Appalachian issues and the intersection of LGBTQ+ and rural identities.

The Prichard Lecture is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow the lecture. Seating is limited, and RSVPs are required.

Since its inception in 1977, the Edward F. Prichard Lecture Series has featured nationally acclaimed authors, journalists, historians, and public figures. The Prichard Lecture is made possible by an endowment created by Edward F. Prichard, Jr., a New Deal activist who later championed educational change in Kentucky.
